Welcome!
The AntiguaScuba Center is a family owned dive center run with a passion for diving! We try to create the experience that most people imagine when booking a dive trip: a friendly boat culture, reliable equipment and nice dive sites-all within the context of safe diving practices.
We are unique because we focus on the colourful mini-wall sites off English Harbour, reef dives off Green Island the spectacular near shore canyon sites. Divers should note that most Antiguan Dive Centers focus on Cades Reef which, although close to the major resorts, has not satisfied divers in the past. We never dive Cades Reef! We also offer entry level PADI Courses including the popular 1/2 PADI Discover Scuba experience for first-timers who wish experience diving under the direct supervision of an instructor.
We have nice clean fully-equipped 'green' dive boats, properly maintained brand name equipment and bottled water on board.
We are located within beautiful Nelson's Dockyard in English Harbour. Dive sites are very, very close (2 to 10 minutes away) and the area has many amenities including much for non-diving partners (check out our 'Locations' page.
Antiguan Diving
Antigua is a BIG island with a varying coastline. This means one cannot evaluate or summarize Antiguan diving by just diving one area. Keep in mind that nearly all Internet reports are based on the Cades Reef area which has seen better days and is an area that we do not dive!
The best conditions as defined by water clarity, coral health and marine life variety are found on the Southeast coast. Here, the beaches give way to dramatic cliffs and seascape changes from the dominant shallow reef structures to coral encrusted walls, canyons and ledges. The seascape alone can be startling. Attracted by the many hiding places, marine life is plentiful and varied. Deep divers will be happy here; our walls general ly bottom out at about 100ft/30m. Another plus is that the beauty of wall diving is that they can be enjoyed shallow or deep.
Conditions tend to be calm during the winter and the absence of currents make this a great destination for beginners and those who dive infrequently.
